3D WorldRunner

Wednesday, March 19th, 2003

3D WorldRunner is a strange NES game. It was the first and only game that I know of that used Red/Blue Separation for 3D (although it really didn’t work). This site has a review of this odd game.

Just try to look past the typos:

Some people have way too much spare time

Saturday, March 15th, 2003

Apparently some people are overflowing with creative juicyness, virtually dripping with it. Well they think they are anyway. I personally could not imagine writing about video games in fiction style but many people think it is a good idea apparently…and I couldnt possibly fathom writing about this even though it is currently one of my fav’s…oh well.

Classic Gaming – Apogee Style

Friday, March 7th, 2003

Got an old 486 laying around? Don’t throw it out, turn it into a gaming machine.

I just recently came into possesion of a 486… time to dust off those copies of Hocus Pocus and Mystic Towers that I’ve been hanging on to.

Camera MAME

Monday, March 3rd, 2003

MAME is an emulator for a lot of arcade games. A version of the emulator is available for almost every platform imaginable, even the Kodak DC265 Digita OS based digital camera.

So now our cameras can run games that could only exist in arcades a few years ago… What’s next? NES games on playing cards, I suppose.

River Raid

Thursday, February 27th, 2003

It’s not something that crosses my mind often, but there are actually females that play games. Three of my cousins and my sister, all of whom are females, are gamers, so I know there has to be more of them out there. But women who design and even program games are rarer still. It’s still amazing to me that after all this time female programmers are virtually unheard of.

The only other prominent female video game figure I could find was Dona Bailey who was the designer for the arcade game Centipede.

There have to be more out there.

David Crane

Wednesday, February 26th, 2003

Mr. Crane was the programmer behind Pitfall! (as well as several other games for the Atari 2600) , and A boy and his Blob(maybe not remembered as fondly as the others).

Here is another interview with him.

Mr Crane is apparently now working at Skyworks Technologies, making games on a contractual basis.
