I know it’s happened to me more than once. I’ll be playing a game and something exceptionally odd will happen that I wish I would have gotten a picture of. Luckily, these guys have captured some of those moments and posted them for posterity.
Unfortunately the rest of the site isn’t as good.

Strange Video Game Screen Shots
Thursday, January 2nd, 2003Hook
Monday, December 30th, 2002I have Hook for the NES. I don’t like it. Rather than tell you why, I’ll let these guys do it.
Basscomm’s Collection
Sunday, December 29th, 2002After getting a good deal on Teleroboxer the other day, I decided to update my games list over at IGN.com.
I still have some games that aren’t listed in IGN’s database, but they do have the majority of what I own… Maybe I have too many games…
Naaaah!
Smashing Live!
Friday, December 27th, 2002January is the month that Nintendo packages a little something extra into their magazine, as sort of a ‘Thank you’ to its subscribers. This year, they packaged a CD in with it.
The CD is a soundtrack of Super Smash Bros. Melee performed by an orchestra. The track listing is as follows:
- Planet Corneria
- Jungle Garden
- Great Bay Shrine
- Dr. Mario
- Original Medley
- Fountain of Dreams
- Pok
UT2K3 Maps DM-Hyrule
Monday, December 23rd, 2002This map is a recreation of Hyrule Castle from the beginning of The Legend of Zelda for the Super Nintendo. The layout is almost identical to the Super Nintendo version, except that instead of rupees and treasure chests, there are Rocket Launchers and Link Guns. The download is here.

Classic Video Game Wuss Scale
Sunday, December 22nd, 2002Over at Snoot.org they are having a competition to determine the wussiest classic video game character. You can cast your vote by going to the page and clicking on who would win the match at the top of the screen. As of writing this, my boy Little Mac is holding steady at the 31st wussiest character, less wussy than the Eggplant Wizard and the L-piece from Tetris.
Atari Age
Saturday, December 21st, 2002Atari is known for making some decent games recently, but they used to be big players in the console market. AtariAge has a great deal of info about all of Atari’s consoles from the 2600 on up to the Jaguar.
Although they don’t have my 400 listed on there, what information they have is very nice.
TSR’s NES Archive
Thursday, December 19th, 2002TSR’s NES Archive is perhaps the most complete site of NES related information. If you can’t find what you want to know on this page, it’s probably not worth knowing. It’s no longer updated, but there’s almost nothing else to update about.
Penny Arcade Mods
Wednesday, December 18th, 2002The strips are usually about video games, sometimes movies, and sometimes just silly stuff. Since modding seems to be the theme of things to do these days, I thought I’d mod out the comic strips. I’ve only done a few right now, but there will be more in the near future.
Note I am hosting the first three of the ‘mods’ here, here, and here. -basscomm
Harvest Moon
Tuesday, December 17th, 2002Harvest Moon is a game about life. You inherit a farm, plant some crops, try to woo a wife, race your horse, milk the cows, shear the sheep, and go to the town festivals.
Wow, that sounds boring.
Luckily, it’s a lot more fun than that. This site has a lot of information on the games in the series.
